To achieve a picking system capable of efficiently carrying out processes from collection of necessary items to delivery in a limited space.SOLUTION: The picking system includes: a multi-stage sorting device (2) for sorting and discharging articles (A) into any of a plurality of stages of frontages (21) based on an order; a plurality of stages of storage containers (T) arranged at a standby position in a state of being stacked in the plurality of stages corresponding to each of the plurality of stages of frontages (21), for receiving the articles (A) discharged from the frontages (21); and a transport device (4) for carrying out the plurality of stages of storage containers (T) that receive the articles (A) from the standby position, and carrying in the plurality of stages of empty storage containers (T) into the standby position.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
