Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve composite processing speed and to correspond to a video signal whose real time processing is difficult.
CONSTITUTION: In the decoders 52 and 53 of variable length codes, processing speed is improved while the increase of hardware quantity is considerably suppressed by changing a processing method when the number of decoded data is one and when it is more than two. When a processing is executed by a large scale decoder 53 whose processing speed is slow, indefinite data occurs at an initial cycle. A delay device 61 delays a data string including indefinite data and changes data from the large scale decoder 53, which is not delayed, into indefinite data to embed it. Thus, an indefinite part is compensated and the delay of a relative processing is prevented.
