PURPOSE: To provide a means for easily and inexpensively adjusting monitor setting in a picture display device equipped with a picture source, for example, a personal computer and a monitor connected with it.
CONSTITUTION: A personal computer 1 generates a control signal for adjusting monitor setting(luminance, contrast, picture position, and picture amplitude). This control signal is transmitted to a monitor 2 by modulating(preferably, pulse width modulating) a synchronizing signal by this control signal. The monitor is provided with a demodulator 24 which fetches the control signal. Thus, the manual control member of the monitor can be omitted. It is not necessary to deflect the interface of the personal computer and the monitor. The pulse width modulation of the synchronizing signal can be executed by a utility program loaded in the personal computer.
