PURPOSE: To reproduce a full-color half-tone picture with good gradation in a short time by irradiating a conductive transparent layer which has one layer of scattered light transmissive particles with a picture, and heating particles where the layer becomes conductive and sublimating the sublimate dye.
CONSTITUTION: Light transmissive particles 17 containing the sublimate dye are held between the photosensitive member 13 consisting of a photoconductive layer 14 and a conductive layer 15. A voltage is impressed between the conductive member 15 and a transparent member 16 to irradiate them with light through a negative picture of a film 19 and then one of particles 17 of three primary colors becomes conductive to sublimate the sublimate dye in the particle 17 heated by a flowing current; the sublimated dye 17' is transferred to obtain a prescribed positive picture. Therefore, the current flowing through the particle 17 and the amount of sublimation are different owing to a difference in the quantity of irradiation light, so a half-tone picture with good gradations is formed; and color separation is performed in single-time exposure and high-speed recording is performed by the simple structure.
