PURPOSE: To make it possible to link respective character pattern picture infomation data to one another with less processing steps and obtain a beautiful output picture, by using the code expressing transition between the same modes.

CONSTITUTION: The character data editing program executes following processings. That is, the first block of character pattern basic data is read from auxiliary memory unit DK into the read buffer on main memory unit MM. Compression data of scanning lines corresponding to characters are taken out in the order of characters of a designated character string and are stuffed in the editing buffer in main memory unit MM similarly. The main program transfers the character data editing buffer to the transmission control program together with various control information required for transmission and performs the processing to instruct transmission start. The transmission control program performs the processing to transmit character data to terminal TM through communication control unit CCU. As a result, the designated character picture is output onto the receiving recording paper of TM.
