Abstract:
PURPOSE:To miniaturize the original fixing reader by driving a drive circuit from nearly horizontal to nearly vertical position while being engaged with an engagement part of a contact sensor at either start or end of subscanning. CONSTITUTION:A light source 11 radiates an original 13, a drive circuit 16 reads and scans a line sensor 10 in the main scanning direction. a drive means moves the contact sensor unit in the subscanning direction (v) to read the original 13. A unit 200 moves the circuit 16 from the subscanning start in a state in parallel with an original platen 14 and applies subscanning while being driven against a spring 20 along the engagement face of the means 51 when the engagement part 17b engages with the engagement means 51. While the circuit 16 is perpendicular to the original platen 14 at the subscanning end position, the subscanning is finished. The space of the sensor 200 to be moved is only the height of the optical path length H and the part of the circuit 16 at the subscanning end or start to the vertical state and the reader is miniaturized.
