PURPOSE: To provide a degree of freedom to a frequency characteristic and to adopt the filter for a MUSE signal receiver by setting a 'five of dice' lattice tap coefficient to the frequency characteristic gain so that the sum of frequency gains at two point symmetry points of a 2-dimension frequency coordinate is constant.
CONSTITUTION: In the design method of a 2-dimension picture interpolation filter subject to sample processing, a tap coefficient of a 'five of dice' lattice is set to a gain F(Y, X) of the frequency characteristic specifying the characteristic so that the sum of frequency gains at two points at a point symmetry coordinate with respect to a 2-dimension frequency coordinate (Y, X)=(η0/40/4) is constant, where η0, e0 are sampling frequencies at Y and X axes respectively. Thus, the degree of freedom is set higher than that of a skew symmetry filter and the interpolation filter is adopted for the MUSE signal receiver.
