PURPOSE: To prevent the deterioration of picture quality, etc., generated at the time of converting magnification and to provide a more natural converted picture having much correlation with peripheral picture elements.

CONSTITUTION: This picture processor is provided with a space filter 2 for generating new interpolation data by inputting each picture element in a video signal obtained from a conversion means 1 to a space area in which (i×j) filter operation coefficients are set up, changing respective filter operation coefficients based upon computing operation clocks, multiplying plural picture elements necessary for interpolation out of the (i×j) picture elements by respective filter operation coefficients, and setting up the added value of the picture element signal as one picture element. The computing operation clock of the filter 2 is changed by a clock generating part 4 in accordance with the variable power rate of each picture element to be computed by the filter 2 and picture data including interpolation data outputted from the filter 2 are stored in a storage part 5. The writing and reading of picture data in/from the part 5 are controlled by a control part 6.
