Abstract:
PURPOSE:To reduce the processing time by calculating the change point of an original picture from a compression code and multiplying a reduction rate therewith to generate a reduced picture thereby eliminating the need for a large-capacity picture memory. CONSTITUTION:A processor 1 reads a compression code from a code memory 2. The 1st arithmetic means (a) in the processor 1 calculates the change point of the original picture from the compression code and the 2nd arithmetic means (b) multiplies a reduction rate with the said change point to calculate the change point of the reduced picture. The change point is given to a reduced picture generating means (c), where the reduced picture is generated. After the reduced picture is stored in a display memory 4, the result is given to a display 5.
