Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve the miniaturization and reliability by allowing a scanning unit whose movement in the vertical direction is restricted to receive an original surface of a book original pressed upward.
CONSTITUTION: In the state of a control pulley 48 that it is freely turned in a direction opposite to a predetermined direction, a control wire 40 is moved toward a hook 41 by a torsional spring going to push up an original platen 1 upward. A original surface of a spread and open book original BO placed on an upper side of each original platen located to the left and right sides is pressed onto a scanning unit 200 by the movement of the control wire 40. The press contact state of the original surface onto the scanning unit 200 is maintained with an action of a one-way clutch to set a shaft 54 to be a freely turnable with respect to a connection pulley by keeping an original platen elevating/descending motor 61 while the original surface on each original platen 1 is pressed into contact onto the scanning unit 200 through the rising of each of the left and right original platens 1.
