Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve the picture quality of a reduced picture by forming a picture element matrix having size being one picture element after reduction corresponding to the reduction rate and setting the gradation of the density of the picture element being one picture element based on the picture element density of a black picture element. CONSTITUTION:A picture element data DS is inputted directly to a matrix register 13 for each picture element sequentially and inputted to a line buffer memory 12. Then the data is latched in 4 shift registers 13a-13d in the matrix register 13 to form the picture element matrix in the size in response to the reduction rate such as 2X2 picture element matrix, and each picture element data DS of the picture element matrix is given to a picture element density conversion circuit 14 as address data AD1-AD4. The picture element density conversion circuit 14 reads the picture element density D from the data table based on the address data AD1-AD4 to output picture element density data address data D1-D4 by one picture element to a print energy control circuit 15 and a brightness control circuit 16. Thus, the information of all picture element data DS is used and then the reduced picture element data is generated thereby improving the picture quality.
