PURPOSE: To implement proper exposure correction at all times with respect to a video signal outputted from an image pickup device in response to a command signal separated from a picture signal on which the command signal relating to an exposure level control state of the picture signal is multiplexed.
CONSTITUTION: An output of a mode command circuit 7 is fed to an ID (Identification) signal generating circuit 10, which generates an ID signal as a command signal to command the exposure state represented by ON/OFF of switches 8,9 and the signal is superimposed on an output signal of a signal processing circuit 6 by an adder circuit 11 and its output is fed to a recorder, a reproducing device or a transmitter or the like. The video signal including the ID signal inputted from an external input terminal or a reproduction head or the like is given to an ID separate circuit of the reproducing device, in which the signal is separated into the video signal and the ID signal, and the ID signal is inputted to a discrimination circuit. The reproduction side adjusts automatically the level of the input video signal based on the ID signal.
