PURPOSE: To improve the working efficiency of a picture transmitter and the workability of an operator by separately and arbitrarily writing cover informa tion and original information in a picture information storing means.
CONSTITUTION: When a cover is not written but an original is written and transmission is instructed by a transmission instructing means SW2, a control means 26 reads out the information in the cover information storing area of the picture information storing means and the information in an original informa tion storing area and transmits those information through a picture transmitting means 21. Therefore, the previously written cover information are automatically transmitted together with the most later written original information. When the original is same and only a cover is changed, the operator operates a cover write instructing means SW6 each time the transmission to one called party destination is finished, changes the cover information to the information of the called party destination to be next transmitted and can only instruct the transmission by the transmission instructing means SW2 without reading original pictures.
