Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the same image characteristic in respective areas, and improve an image grade over the whole surface of a phosphor screen by deflecting beams emitted by separately arranged electron guns to plural regions having the different area.

CONSTITUTION: A beam emitted by an electron gun 23 in a neck 22 of a funnel 13 is deflected in the horizontal and vertical directions by magnetic fields of a preliminary deflecting device and a main deflecting device. A phosphor screen 17 is scanned dividedly in the horizontal and vertical directions in regions R1 to R20 corresponding to electron guns 23 through a shadow mask 18. Peripheral part regions R1 to R6, R10, R11, R15 and R16 to R20 are smaller than central part regions R7 to R14. Since luster distortion or landing becomes the problem in such peripheral areas, the formation of the screen 17 is avoided, or the deflection angle of an electron beam is made small.
