Title:
PIEZO-INJECTOR FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3854120
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To downsize a piezo-stack, thus attaining cost reduction.
SOLUTION: An injector 10 includes the piezo-stack 12 formed by layering a number of piezo-electric devices, a small-diameter piston 15 which slides in an injector body 11 according to an expansion motion of the piezo-stack 12, a ball valve 20 which is disposed in a high pressure chamber 21 for introducing high pressure fuel corresponding to injection pressure and cuts off the high pressure fuel with a spherical outer-periphery surface, and a nozzle needle 27 which is retained at a valve closed position by making the high pressure fuel work on a back surface. When the piezo-stack 12 is expanded, the front end face of the small diameter piston 15 presses the outer-periphery surface of the ball valve 20 to leak the high pressure fuel to a low pressure side, thus performing fuel injection from the front end part of the nozzle needle 27. The front end of the small-diameter piston 15 is of column shape, and a cone-shaped recess is formed at the top end surface. It is thus possible to bring the small- diameter piston 15 into line contact with the ball valve 20.
