Abstract:

To provide a piezoelectric ceramic composition of which the electric resistance is inhibited from undergoing deterioration caused by oxygen vacancies due to sintering at a low temperature and in a reductive atmosphere.

The multilayer piezoelectric element 1 is provided with a plurality of piezoelectric layers 11 including a composite oxide as a main constituent, and an internal electrode layer 12 formed between the plurality of the piezoelectric layers 11 and containing Cu. The piezoelectric layer 11 comprises a fired body which contains as a main constituent compound oxide expressed by (Pba-bMib) [(Zn1/3Nb2/3)xTiyZrz]O3(wherein 0.96≤a≤1.03, 0≤b≤0.1, 0.05≤x≤0.15, 0.25≤y≤0.5, 0.35≤z≤0.6, and x+y+z=1, and Mi represents at least one selected from among Sr, Ca and Ba) and contains ≤1 wt.% Cu expressed in terms of Cu2O (not inclusive of 0) and ≤0.5 wt.% Ag expressed in terms of Ag2O (not inclusive of 0) to the main constituent.
