Abstract:

PURPOSE: To simplify a manufacturing process, and to reduce cost by surface- grinding the joint surfaces of piezoelectric segments, adjusting clearances and combining and unifying these segments.

CONSTITUTION: A piezoelectric clamping device 10 is constituted of a plurality of piezoelectric segments 12 stretch-formed in an arcuate manner, shaped to a form having an adequate clearance C to a spindle 14 inserted into a clamping section and clamped and unified by a band 16, etc. The piezoelectric segments 12 are shaped in such a manner that a ring-shaped piezoelectric ceramic sintered body is divided into two, the surfaces (joint surfaces) of the sintered bodies are ground only by predetermined height by a surface grinder, etc. and dimensions are adjusted. Accordingly, the clearance C with the spindle 14 can be regulated only by surface-grinding the joint surfaces of the piezoelectric segments 12, thus easily realizing the optimum state of the clearance at low cost.
