Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide the fluophor excellent in quality, useful for the fluorescent surface of color picture tubes, containing, as active ingredient, a water-soluble hemicellulose.
CONSTITUTION: The fluophor containing, as active ingredient, a water-soluble hemicellulose, e.g. derived from soybean. This fluophor can be obtained, for example, by the following processes: 5 pts.wt. of a water-soluble soybean hemicellulose is dissolved in 95 pts.wt. of water followed by adding 100 pts.wt.of an europium-activated yttrium oxysulfide fluophor to the resultant aqueous solution to effect its dispersion; the resultant fluophor dispersion is mixed with a dispersion of pigment prepared by dispersing 1 pt.wt. of cadmium thioselenate in a solution made by dissolving 5 pts.wt. of gelatin in 95 pts.wt. of warm water to immobilize the particles of a pigment-attached fluophor which are then dried.
