PURPOSE: To obtain the subject composition for double coated paper for rotary offset printing, containing a specific pigment and an adhesive, not causing a blister, having a strong inner binding strength, and giving good printing gloss.

CONSTITUTION: This primer pigment coating liquid composition contains (A) 100 pts. of a pigment containing heavy calcium carbonate in an amount of 70-100 wt.% and (B) an adhesive containing (i) 4-13 pts. of a starch derivative and (ii) 0-15 pts. of a synthetic polymer. Oxidized starch, etc., and a styrene- butadiene copolymer-based synthetic rubber latex, etc., are preferably used as the components i and ii, respectively, and clay, etc., is also preferably used as other pigments for the component A.
