PURPOSE: To improve the vividness, gloss, flowability, and controllability of colors by coupling a tetrazo-compound of 3,3'-dichlorobenzidine and/or 3,3'- dimethoxybenzidine with an acetoacetanilide and a specified compound.
CONSTITUTION: 3,3'-Dichlorobenzidine and/or 3,3'-dimethoxybenzidine is made into a tetrazo-compound to give a tetrazonium salt. Separately, a grounding agent is prepared which comprises an aqueous solution of a mixture of an acetoacetanilide and compounds of formula I and/or formula II (wherein Q is a piperidine, pipecoline or morpholine nucleus having at least one of 1-5C alkyl groups and 3-8C cyclic hydrocarbon groups; X and Y are each 3-8C alkylene or carbonyl; and AA is acetoacetylamino) in an amount of 0.2-20mol% based on the acetoacetanilide. The tetrazonium salt is coupled with the grounding agent to give the pigment. This pigment is dispersed in a varnish to give an ink which causes little difference between the color of print and the apparent color of ink.
