To microparticulate and highly densify a pigment dispersion liquid containing an organic pigment of violet or the like including C.I. Pigment Violet 23 without causing aggregation, sedimentation, and over-time increase of the viscosity; and to provide a dispersion stable as a colorant for color filter resists and inkjet inks.

There are provided: a metal-containing azo pigment dispersant obtained by using a salt obtained by complexing an azo compound composed of naphthalenesulfonic acid, its derivative and a benzenesulfonic acid derivative with a metal; and a pigment composition containing the metal-containing azo pigment dispersant, a resin dispersant, and an organic pigment.
