Title:
PIGMENT DISPERSION FOR TONER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2000066452
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To obtain a color toner improved in the transmittance, color forming property and printability of a full-color image and good in aging stability by incorporating a dispersant having a specified volume resistivity and a specified solubility parameter.

This pigment dispersion for a toner contains a dispersant having 1012-1019 Ω.cm volume resistivity and 8-12 [cal/cm3]1/2 solubility parameter. When the dispersant is used in an org. solvent, an ion effect produced in an aq. solvent can hardly be expected, therefore its steric repulsion effect is preferably utilized by increasing the mol.wt. to about ≥500. The adsorption of part of the dispersant on the surface of a pigment is also effective and a basic group such as an amino group or an acid group such as a sulfonic acid group may be introduced so as to attain the adsorption. The pigment dispersion consists preferably of 5-50 pts.wt. pigment, 1-15 pts.wt. dispersant and 35-94 pts.wt. solvent.
