Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a new safflower pigment having excellent stability and characteristic coloring and insoluble in water and useful for coating, dye, cosmetic, etc.

CONSTITUTION: A compound expressed by the formula [(n) is 1-15]. For example, the compound is obtained by subjecting a flower bud cell of safflower to tissue culture and taking out only an ingredient soluble in acetone-methanol mixed solvent from the resultant crude product and then further purifying the ingredient by a column chromatography.
