To obtain a pigment mixture which has a relatively high hiding power, is incorporated well into a system wherein the mixture is used, and is considerably prevented from causing pigment/colorant separation in the system by mixing an ingredient containing a multilayer pigment (e.g. mica) with an ingredient containing a platy, needle-like, or spherical colorant and/or a filler.
This mixture contains an ingredient (A) containing a multilayer pigment based on mica, SiO2 flakes, glass flakes, Al2O3 flakes, or polymer flakes and an ingredient (B) containing a platy, needle-like, or spherical colorant and/or a filler. The mixing ratio of ingredient A to ingredient B is preferably (10/1)-(1/10). Preferably, ingredient A is a multilayer pigment based on aforementioned substrate flakes coated alternately with a highrefractive-index metal oxide layer and a low-refractive-index metal oxide layer. Preferably, the high- refractive-index layers comprises at least one layer selected from a TiO2 layer, an Fe2O3 layer, a ZnO layer, and a ZnO2 layer; and the low-refractive-index layer comprises at least one layer selected from an SiO2 layer and an Al2O3 layer.
