To obtain a pile fabric excellent in holding of pile without impairing qualities of carpet such as touch feeling, vacant joint, etc., of pile yarn, hardly causing dropping of pile in processing of carpet, especially in dyeing processing and obtain a carpet excellent in durability hardly causing dropping of pile even if traveled by long term walking or use of chair equipped with castor.
This pile fabric is composed of a pile layer comprising a pile yarn A of a thermoplastic synthetic fiber and a base fabric B comprising a thermoplastic synthetic fiber nonwoven fabric and a fiber constituting the base fabric B is composed of a low-melting point polymer component and a high- melting polymer component and the low-melting point polymer component is composed of a same polymer component as a polymer component of the pile yarn A. When the fiber constituting the base fabric B is bonded and fixed by a resin binder C, a pile yarn A and a resin binder C in which the difference between solubility parameter (δC) of the resin binder and solubility parameter (δA) of at least one kind of polymer component constituting the pile yarn A is within the range of ±1.5(cal/cc)1/2 are adopted.
