PURPOSE: To vary design effects, by equipping each looper with a driving gear such as air cylinder, independently raising and dropping each looper, setting the loopers at any height and planting multi-stage pile at any height on a ground fabric.

CONSTITUTION: Each looper 2 set correspondingly to each needle 1 of a tufting machine is equipped with an air cylinder 7, respectively and is individually constructed to be capable of rising and falling. When the air cylinders 7 are operated and the loopers 2 are raised, screws 12 for fixing the loopers 12 are brought into contact through washers 17 with screws 19 for adjusting height of the loopers, the upper limit position of the loopers 2 is set and short pile is prepared. When the air cylinders 7 are operated in the opposite direction, the loopers 2 are dropped, screws 13 for fixing looper blocks are brought into contact through washers 18 with screws 20 for adjusting height of the loopers, the lower position of the loopers 2 is set and long pile is prepared.
