Title:
PILLAR COUPLING PART STRUCTURE OF AUTOMOBILE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3971521
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure a sufficient strength without increasing the number of parts, in coupling of an automobile pillar to a side sill.
SOLUTION: A side sill 1 is formed in a step shape consisting of steps 1a and 1b consisting of the upper surfaces of lower and upper steps, and an intermediate rise part 1c consisting of a wall rising from the step part 1a to the upper step part 1b. The lower end part of a center pillar 2 in the sectional shape of a combined box-shape is cut, an intermediate wall 2a exposed through its cutting is brought into contact with the rise part 1c and by welding the contact parts, the side sill 1 and the center pillar 2 are integrally formed. Thus, since the end part in an axial direction of a pillar member on which an external force from a side is exerted is supported by the rise part of a side member, a sufficient strength against sideways collision is provided.
