To provide a pillar garnish structure that has a stable shape, and easily opens and deforms without damage or breakage to deploy and inflate an air bag smoothly during an operation of an air bag device.
In a pillar garnish 2 for covering the cabin inner surface 11 of a pillar 1B of the vehicle in which a side air bag device 3 is installed, a notch is disposed in a garnish body 2a correspondingly to the side air bag device 3, and an opening 25 for passing the air bag 30 and swelling it on the cabin side is formed between a notch edge 24 and the pillar 1B. A coating 2b formed by polymerizing and sticking a flexible backing material 22 to the face material 21 is covered on the surface of the garnish body 2a on the cabin side. The opening 25 is covered by the lower half part 2b' of the coating 2b in series, and the coating lower half part 2b' is easily opened and deformed by the expansion force of the air bag 30 during the operation of the side air bag device 3.
