PURPOSE: To obtain excellent pipe casting by providing vertically a core on a lifting device, also assembling an outer mold of a short size by surrounding the core, repeating the accumulating operation and the descending operation of the lifting device, and charging a molten metal.
CONSTITUTION: A nozzle 1 having a through-hole 1a is connected to a tandish 3, and a lifting device 4 is placed on its lower part. A lifting part 4a of the lifting device 4 is lifted to the height of a conveyor 5, and a core 6 is erected vertically through the through-hole 1a. Subsequently, an outer mold 7 of a short size is assembled by surrounding the core 6 from the right and left by the conveyor 5. Next, the lifting part 4a is made to descend by the height of the outer mold 7, the outer mold is assembled, and thereafter, a molten metal is charged from the nozzle 1. As the molten metal level rises, the lifting part 4a is made to descend, and casting is executed by repeating successively the accumulating operation of the outer mold 7 and the descent of the lifting part 4a. According to this method, a pipe casting whose surface state is excellent is obtained.
