To obtain a pipe connecting apparatus which is operable in an excavated groove, simple in structure, and can be positively collected.

The pipe connecting apparatus comprises a connector body and second guide members 70, 70. The connector body is detachably attached to an outer surface of a first pipe body 30 at an end closer to a connecting side, and has a cylinder 4 and first guide members 6, 6 which are moved by activation of the cylinder 4. The connector body is settled in the excavated groove from the ground. The second guide members 70, 70 are detachably fixed to an outer surface of a second pipe body 20 at corresponding ends, so as to be substantially orthogonal to an axial center of the second pipe body 20, and so as to be extended toward the ground while maintaining a settled state in the excavated groove. When the first pipe body 30 having the connector body fixed thereto beforehand, is settled from the ground into the excavated groove at a location connected to the second pipe body 20, fitting between the first and the second guide members is maintained. When the cylinder 4 is activated after the first pipe body 30 is settled at the predetermined location, the first pipe body 30 is moved toward the second pipe body 20, and the ends of the first and second pipe bodies are connected to each other.
