PURPOSE: To obtain a better weighing accuracy regardless of changes in the position of a pipe, by arranging a ring-platform type weighing machine in a pipe conveying path.
CONSTITUTION: A centrifugal cast pipe 2 is sent onto an inspection platform 7. After appearance inspections are conducted, a stopper 8 is lowered to send the pipe 2 to a weighing machine 3. The weighing machine 3 is made flush with the pipe conveying path 1, has a pair of ring platforms 4 capable of supporting the pipe horizontally and as the pipe 2 moves onto the ring platform 4, the weight is measured. When the pipe 2 moves onto the weighing machine 3, it is detected with a detector 5. By this operation, measuring personal computer 10 reads in data such as the prescribed weight of the pipe 2 and minimum weight from signals from a switch box 12. In addition, as the pipe 2 turns over the ring platform 4 and passes through the position of a second detector 6, the signal is sent to a personal computer 10 and a weighing machine body 11 receives instantaneous data of the weighing machine 3. Then, the detector 6 is located at a specified position to permit the most accurate measurement of the weight. Thus the weight of the pipe 2 can be measured accurately.
