Title:
PISTON OF CYLINDER INJECTION TYPE INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3800764
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress generation of smoke, and reduce an adverse influence on homogeneous combustion as much as possible, by ensuring an interference distance of spraying from until it collides with a piston after it starts with a fuel injection valve 10 at the time of stratified charge combustion.
SOLUTION: The protruding part 21 on the top of a piston 4 is constituted of an exhaust valve side inclined surface 23 parallel to the inclined surface of a vent-roof type combustion chamber and an intake valve side inclined surface 22. A complete round bowl 12 is formed at the intake valve side, and a deep bottom part 31 is recessed at a part of its bottom surface 12a. Spray injected from a fuel injection valve 10 toward the bowl 12 during a compression stroke for stratified charge combustion is bent by a swirl S and collides with the deep bottom 31. The interference distance of the spray to the deep bottom 31 becomes long, therefore, atomizing time can be ensured, so that generation of a liquid film is suppressed. Air-fuel mixture formed at the deep bottom 31 moves to an ignition plug 7 side riding on the swirl S, thus it is possible to form startified air-fuel mixture in the vicinity of the ignition plug 7.
