To provide improved seal structure capable of improving airtightness of combustion gas and while simplifying manufacturing processes in a pivot piston for an internal combustion engine.
This piston includes: a pivot pin; an arc-like first sealing surface 12 which describes a circumferential path around the pivot pin and forms a replaceable skirt 40; and an arc-like second sealing surface connected to the firs sealing surface 12 by a floor part 21 of the piston. The second sealing surface includes at least two sealing parts 24 arranged on a bed 20 so they will have limited transverse movement on the bed 20, and matching surfaces thereof limit passing-through of the combustion gas between them. The piston also includes a side part seal arranged in a groove 63 of a side part. A limiting pin 60 helps to arrange the seal in the seal groove 63, and further, closes a path wherein the pressure of the combustion gas passes through. The piston also includes a means for making a cooling liquid go out, passing through a liquid cooling gallery in the piston through a pivot shaft.
