Abstract:
To provide a piston for an internal combustion engine capable of preventing deformation of a ring portion due to thermal expansion.SOLUTION: A piston 1 includes a piston head 3 having a ring portion 4 including a fire land 5 and ring grooves 6, 6' for housing a piston ring. The first ring groove 6' is disposed adjacently to the fire land 5, and has an upper groove side surface 7 and a lower groove side surface 8. At least the lower groove side surface 8 of the first ring groove 6' is inclined at an inclination angle α to a vertical line 9 to a piston shaft 10, and at least the inclination angle α of the lower groove side surface 8 is changed in a circumferential direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
