Abstract:

To provide an improved piston for a large diesel engine causing no problem with removal of piston deposits.

The piston 1 for a large 2-stroke diesel engine has at least one cylinder 2. Inside the cylinder 2, the piston 1 is placed so as to be able to axially reciprocate between a top dead center and a bottom dead center. The piston 1 includes a piston ring set 3 including at least one piston ring 31, 32 in a jacket surface 100. The piston ring set is placed between a piston crown 4 and a piston skirt 6. The piston skirt 6 forms a lower portion of the piston 1 away from a combustion chamber surface 7 of the piston 1. Centering means 8, 81 are provided in the piston 1 for radially centering the piston 1 inside the cylinder 2.
