Abstract:
To greatly improve the compression efficiency of a piston by preventing a mating portion of a piston ring from largely opening or deforming, even in an operation state under extremely low temperature and high pressure, for example.SOLUTION: A piston ring (41) is equipped with a piston ring body (42) which is formed in a C-shape, and has a mating portion (43) formed by an opening tip end portion (44); and a separated body member (50) which is formed separately from the piston ring body, and arranged in a piston ring groove, is laid between two opening tip end portions of the piston ring to cover the mating portion. The two opening tip end portions of the piston ring body respectively have projecting portions (45) projecting out so as to alternately oppose to each other in a circumferential direction along an outer peripheral portion. The separated body member is arranged in the radial direction inside of the two projecting portions, and covers the mating portion formed between the two projecting portions from the radial direction inside. The separated body member is preferably formed by a material having higher bending strength than the piston ring body.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
