Abstract:
To provide a piston ring capable of restricting the increase in oil consumption during high load operation and under in-cylinder negative pressure environment when used as a second compression ring or a third compression ring, furthermore capable of restricting the partial wear of a ring groove.SOLUTION: A piston ring according to the invention, comprises an outer peripheral surface having: a taper part in which in a cross-sectional view along the axial direction, expanding outward in the radial direction as going from the upper side to the lower side in the axial direction; and an outer peripheral top part which continues on the lower side in the axial direction with respect to the taper part, in which a gradual increase region is formed at the abutment gap which gradually increasing to the lower surface toward the lower side in the axial direction. The gradual increase region is provided only on the lower side in the axial direction than the outer peripheral top part of the outer peripheral surface.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
