Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent leak of compressed gas by providing penetration holes to the top portion of the piston so that the piston ring is pushed outward by pressure imposed from inside. CONSTITUTION:Piston rings 7, 8 are inserted in grooves 9, 10 provided at the upper periphery of the piston 2. A multiple number of small penetration holes 11 are provided to connect the top surface of the piston 2 to the front space of the piston ring groove 9. As a result, during the compression stroke of the piston 2, the compressed gas immediately flows into the groove 9 through the side clearance and the small holes 11, pushing the piston ring 7 from above and inside, so that the piston ring 7 is pressed tightly against the bottom of the groove 9 and sliding surface of the cylinder 1, thus preventing leak of compressed gas which was experienced before.
