To machine a grinding surface to be a joint surface of metal plating block material composing a T-die used for resin film extrusion molding into a surface having excellent specular gloss with no stripe traces of a grinding wheel.
A pitch face of a pitch grinding tool 50 adhered to a grinding tool holding plate 55 axially supported by a lower end of a spindle shaft 51 is pressed to a surface of the metal plating block material (work) fixed to a work table provided on a frame 2. While abrasive is supplied between the surface of the work and the pitch grinding tool 50 facing to the surface, the pitch grinding tool is rotated and moved to one direction to carry out one-direction pitch grinding of the work, which eliminates the stripe traces of grinding wheel having remained on the work. More excellent mirror finishing with the value of the surface roughness 1/4-1/6 times as small as that of precise grinding work is realized.
