To enable light emitting and displaying a character and a graphic or the like together with deodorization by coating a photocatalyst on the front surface of a light transmission plate for deodorization effected by reacting to an ultraviolet ray, providing opposing edge lights on the end surface of the plate and executing light emitting display through the use of scattered light which is emitted from the front surface of the light transmission plate.

A base part 10 and a pair of display parts 20 and 20 are arranged in a planar deodorizing device which is disposed in the toilet or the like in a train. The deodorizing edge light 11 and the display edge lights 12a and 12b are disposed in the base part 10. Each display part 20 is provided with the deodorizing light transmission plate 21 and display light transmission plates 22a and 22b. In the deodorizing light transmission plate 21, multiple grooves 21' are formed over a whole front surface at a front side and the photocatalyst layer 23 is formed over the whole front surface at a back surface side. In the display light transmission plates 22a and 22b, a reflecting member 24 is held between the deodorizing light transmission plate 21 and the display light transmission plate 22a, and the multiple grooves 22a' are formed on the front surface at the back surface side of the display light transmission plate 22a in accordance with the character and the graphic or the like to be displayed.
