The planar display device comprises a first pane P1 and a second panel P2, and displays images on the outer face P1F of the first panel P1, based on the light emitting action in a first space S1, that is surrounded by the first panel P1 and the second panel P2. It further comprises an evacuation chamber 1, having an evacuation part 3 that is fixed to the rear face P2B of the second panel P2, and a communicating part 4 that communicates between a second space 2 surrounded by the second panel 2 and the evacuation chamber 1 and the first space S1, is installed on the second panel P2.
