To provide a planar flexible member stacking device and a planar flexible member stacking method for transshipping planar flexible member groups such as, for instance, mats and carpets or the like, to a conveying rack or a carriage without manual intervention.

A moving body 4 is located near a conveying carriage 9 with a capability of moving back and forth between a placing position at which the mat groups are located and a transshipment position at which the mat groups are transshiped into a stacker position. After the moving body 4 is moved forward to the transshipment position with the mat groups placed on the moving body, a rear portion of the moving body 4 is blocked by a blocking segment 8 and the moving body 4 is moved backward to the placing position. This allows the mat groups in a place to be separated from the moving body 4 in abutting engagement with the blocking segment 8 and transshipped to the stacker position.
