PURPOSE: To provide plane motion of high speed, high accuracy, and high load with a small area and a super thin shaped construction, by providing belts of which one end parts are wound around a table smoothly moving on a base so as to perform plane motion, and providing driving means connected to the other ends of the belts.

CONSTITUTION: When the other ends of belts 1, 2, 3, 4 of which one ends are wound around a table 29 are wound up by driving means 21, 22, 23, 24, the table 20 is rotated or moved in the tensile direction. By prescribing the tensile directions of the respective belts 1-4, because the driving means 21-24 are connected to the table 20, some belt is pulled and the other belts are loosened so as to rotate or move the table in the prescribed direction. The moving distance is controlled by the belt wind-up quantity of the driving means.
