Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a plane type range finder/goniometer which turns around an optical beam for measurement along a horizontal plane for executing multipoint survey in a short time without requiring a surveyor to sight a measuring point. CONSTITUTION:The optical beam for measurement of a light-wave range finder 10 is turned around along a horizontal plane by means of a pentagonal prism 8 which is turned by means of a motor 4 and reflected by the reflecting surface of a measuring point. The reflected optical beam is detected by the range finder 10 as a returning optical beam. An encoder 12 generates pulses proportional to the rotational angle of the motor 4 and a zero position detecting switch 14 detects the passing timing of the prism 8 through the zero position of the rotational angle. A controller 16 calculates the horizontal angle of the measuring point from the pulses and detection of the returning beams by means of the range finder 10. A remote controller 36 calculates the two-dimensional coordinates of the measuring point from the horizontal angle and the distance measured by the light-wave range finder 10.
