PURPOSE: To attain a small sized antenna with a high efficiency by providing a ridge to a groove center formed to a waveguide.
CONSTITUTION: A ridge waveguide 1 consists of a waveguide main body 2 made of a metallic conductor and a sheet plate 3 covering its upper face. Then a groove 4 whose width and depth are respectively W and H is formed to the waveguide main body 2. Moreover, a ridge 5 whose width and height are respectively (t) and 1/4 wavelength or over is provided to the center of the groove 4. Furthermore, a line and a radiation element are coupled in terms of electromagnetic field by approaching the radiation element to the ridge 5. Thus, since the line width is narrow, a simple parallel feed system is adopted thereby making the arrangement interval of the radiation elements to be 0.9 wavelength or less and reducing the line loss of the feeding line to be that of a standard waveguide.
