Title:
PLANING BOAT HULL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2775233
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce the amount of wash generated when a ship is traveling at high speed by positioning chines so that in a lateral projection the chine 2 is located below the chine 1 at the bow, intersects the chine 1 at the center of the hull, and is located above the chine 1 at the stern.
CONSTITUTION: This hull characterized by the intersection of an upper chine 1 and a lower chine 2 in a side view. As a result, an outer bottom plate 4 is twisted from a deep V-shape forward to a shallow inverted V-shape aft. The effect of the twisted outer plate 4 is a combination of very deep V-sections forward, resulting in an excellent seakeeping characteristic in waves at high speed, with a highly effective lifting surface aft. The outer bottom plate 4, together with an inner bottom plate 5, forms bottom channels in the aft portion of the bottom of the hull, in which an air/water spray is limited to reduce the spray and waves outside the ship. Friction resistance below the hull is reduced at the same time.
