To provide a method and a device to plan the procedures for a minimum invasion treatment wherein an in-vivo placement of a device within the body of a patient is performed, in an interactive procedure planning for an image-guided surgical operation.
Visualized information shows a set corresponding with the anatomy of the patient, a single target point 182 in the body of the patient, and a trajectory 184 reaching a selected target point through the body of the patient. By using such visualized information, a non-invasive pre-operation virtual seed placement and dose distribution procedure planning are made possible. A multi-planar reformatted images 166 and 168 are derived from a CT image data set, and are angled in such a manner that the plane of a virtual needle 130 may be contained in a pseudo-axial image and its 90 degree slice counterpart. A stereotactic arm having a spatial reference in the data set of the patient acts as a needle guide, and is used to locate preplanned image planes including virtual seed deposition points.
