To provide a planographic printing method requiring no development, forming the surface of a printing plate by applying imagewise exposure to a negative plate and forming the printing plate reduced in printing contamination at the time of printing and excellent in printing durability to perform printing, to provide a planographic printing apparatus capable of manufacturing the printing plate on a printing press and to enable the repeated reuse of a printing original plate.
In the planographic printing method, a layer of a hydrophobic substance is provided to the printing original plate having a titanium oxide- containing layer and irradiated with active light of a high pressure mercury lamp to form an imagewise hydrophilic region to obtain the printing plate.
