A plant growth promoter containing a jasmonic acid derivative represented by general formula (I) as the active ingredient (wherein R<1> represents pentyl or pentenyl; and R<2> represents hydrogen or alkyl). It has an excellent growth-promoting effect particularly on root vegetables, tubers, grains, fruit vegetables, fruit trees, flower and ornamental plants, and industrial crops.
