To provide a plasma display apparatus in which a power recovery rate is high with high luminance and low power consumption, even using a plasma display panel of a large screen size.
In the plasma display apparatus including a pair of sustain pulse generation sections 100 and 200, the sustain pulse generation sections 100 and 200 have clamp sections 120 and 220 which include first switching elements Q13 and Q23 for clamping one of corresponding display electrode pair on a first voltage Vs(V), and second switching elements Q14 and Q24 for clamping one of the corresponding display pair on a second voltage 0(V). In the fist switching elements Q13 and Q23 and the second switching elements Q14 and Q24, a MOSFET is used for the switching element to which a voltage for starting sustain discharge in a discharge cell is applied, and an IGBT is used for the switching element to which the voltage for not starting the sustain discharge in the discharge cell is applied.
